Outside Sales & Delivery Representative

Location: National City, CA | Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday

About the Role

Shipyard Supplies keeps marine coatings and sandblasting crews working. We supply the tools, materials, and safety gear they rely on every day, from paint brushes, rollers, and Tyvek suits to abrasives, respirators, and PPE, to shipyards and industrial clients across the region.

We are a small, growing company, and we are looking for an Account Manager to be the owner's right hand. You will own a book of customer accounts, win new ones, and make sure every customer gets what they need, when they need it. Most of your time will be in the field: visiting shipyards, contractors, and industrial sites, staying ahead of your customers' needs, and delivering to them yourself. Your customers will know you by name, and know exactly who to call when a crew needs product fast.

You will work side by side with the owner, with no layers and no bureaucracy, and your work will directly shape where the company goes. On a team this small, everyone pitches in. Most days you will be managing accounts, selling, and delivering. Some days you will help in the warehouse, sort out a vendor issue, or take on whatever the business needs most.

This is a role for someone who builds strong relationships, likes being on the move, treats the business like their own, and wants their income and responsibility to grow with their results.

  • Make in-person sales calls and site visits across your territory

  • Prepare quotes, follow up, and close sales

  • Track leads, pipeline, and sales activity

Delivery & Fulfillment

  • Deliver orders to your customers' sites safely and on time in a company vehicle

  • Confirm orders are complete and accurate, and communicate any delays

  • Work with the warehouse to pull and stage orders for your accounts

  • Perform basic vehicle checks and keep delivery and mileage logs

Market Knowledge

  • Build strong knowledge of our products, including coatings supplies, abrasives, and PPE

  • Share customer feedback on products, pricing, and service with the team

  • Keep an eye on local projects, competitors, and opportunities in the marine and industrial market

  • Work directly with the owner on priorities, pricing, and growth plans

  • Pitch in on receiving, stocking, and organizing the warehouse when needed

  • Help resolve vendor, order, and billing issues

  • Suggest better ways to serve customers and run the business

  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

Required

  • 1 - 3 years of account management, B2B sales, outside sales, or route sales experience

  • Hands-on experience in a role that mixed customer service with physical work, such as a paint or coatings store, industrial supply branch, route sales, or equipment rental

  • A track record of building and keeping customer relationships

  • Flexible and comfortable switching between sales, delivery, and warehouse tasks in the same day

  • Comfortable prospecting, cold calling, and visiting job sites

  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle deliveries

  • Organized and self-motivated, able to manage your own schedule and accounts

  • Basic computer skills, including email and spreadsheets

Preferred

  • Experience selling to marine, construction, industrial, or coatings customers
